1 pkg. chocolate devils food cake mix
1 can cherry pie filling
1/2 tsp. almond extract
Combine cake mix, cherry pie filling, eggs, and almond extract. Mix well with large spoon. Turn into 13 x 9 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes or until cake tests done. Remove from oven. Pour chocolate frosting over hot cake and spread. Allow frosting to set before slicing cake. Makes 12 to 15 servings.
This cake keeps wonderfully!
Top with Chocolate Frosting: 1/3 c. milk 1 c. sugar 6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 tsp. vanilla Nuts (optional)
Directions For Icing:
Combine butter, milk, and sugar in saucepan. Bring to boil; boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat and add chocolate chips and vanilla. Stir until chocolate is melted. Pour over cake.
